I have been drawing as long as I can remember. As a child I spent long hours with a pencil and paper rendering imaginary scenes and characters. Like many young artists at that time I poured over the illustrations in magazines and was captivated by the ability of these artists to create a mood and a story. In my early teens I began to draw my friends and found that I had a talent for portraiture.

I pursued my passion for drawing at the Rhode Island School of Design where I studied illustration and photography. Shortly after graduation I moved to Minneapolis and in 1986 began a career as a full time artist. As time has gone on I have been drawn more and more to portraiture. I cannot imagine a greater challenge or one that is more rewarding. I continue to paint both public and private commissions and to teach portraiture in Minnesota.
